Sony Open – January 2018 Yesterday was my birthday and while I am in Oahu to watch the golf, I also spent a bit of time working on Fairways and strategising on how we can sell the Awesome 4somes we have available on our website.
Walking around in the winter sun (winter sun in Hawaii is better than summer sun in some places I have been) watching golf is not a bad way to celebrate my birthday.
I was admiring all the different trees that line the fairways however I do not believe Speith enjoyed the trees as I did, bouncing off 4 on the 8th finishing with an 8.
I play golf the same way. Well I don’t quite get 8 birdies a round but I do sometimes have a quadruple bogey.
Yesterday the beach was calling so mid afternoon I swapped my golf gear for my swimmers and hit the beach for an hour before returning to the golf.
Chris Kirk and Zach Johnson, who both had a bogey free round, and start today on -7.
Defending champion Justin Thomas also had a bogey free round but could only manage 3 birdies. He did get to have a giggle on the 17th hole when he had playing partner, Kevin Kisner don a University of Alabama jersey after losing a bet. Thomas had stated in an earlier press conference that he did need to get approval from the tour first.
It is nice to see a more lighthearted side of the players compared with the usual serious faces on tour.
The golf has been underway for two hours and it is time for me to go and get amongst it.
