Peterhead Golf Club – Craigewan Links – April 2015 The day after I arrived in Scotland, I met Harry at Peterhead Golf Course and we had a bit of a chat as the drizzling rain eased up.
I started out poorly but I had been travelling for days so was quite tight and hadn’t hit a ball in a couple of weeks.
This was my first ever Scottish links course and while my first thought was “where are the trees” I feel in love with the fairways rolling through the natural landscape and the greens that were trimmed natural grass.
Nothing is manufactured and you can imagine golfers of decades past smacking balls all over this course. I was playing with Harry and Heather, Harry is the pro at the course and Heather works in the bar and is quite a good golfer who is also relatively new to the sport.
By the last four holes I was getting on to balls well and playing more to my usual game. Was a fantastic start to my Scottish golf tour and I very much enjoyed Harry and Heather’s company.
